This area can be quite a harsh area if you are a jungle plant. It is located along the perimeter of the highest 'High Desert" in North America receiving only 11 in. of water a year. Though this is above the 10 in. to qualify as a desert rule, the high evaporation rate still qualifies it as one.
Now here's something I don't see everyday; this photo is both simple and complex at the same time. In the foreground, we see the pure simplicity of an untouched desert, while in the background, there are beautiful cloud patterns above mountains that are blanketed in shadows. I quite admire the effort put into this shot to make it so pleasing to the eye. It's amazing that such a barren landscape can provide such an interesting view.
Something to consider in the future would be a panorama. Perhaps not a super wide one, but at least two shots stitched together. Take advantage of all that land and use it to your advantage. But always keep an "anchor" object in the foreground like you have with that plant so the viewer doesn't get lost.

Wonderful shot indeed. Thanks for sharing!
