The Napping Grounds by Jacob-Routzahn The Napping Grounds by Jacob-Routzahn
After spending almost a solid week going to bed late, sleeping bunched up in the back of my car, and waking up well before sunrise for photos, I was in desperate need for a nap. Upon seeing a gentleman pulled over on the side of the road with his point and shoot, I took note of a potential area I could photograph of the Green River Overlook. I grabbed my gear and made my way along a cliff edge until I came to a point with a shear drop off and a fantastic view of the Green River Overlook. The only thing was, I had it all to myself.

After shooting for a while, I found an interesting, and comfortable spot for nap. The neat part about it was it was right along side of the cliff edge. With an enchanting warm breeze swirling around with perfect temperatures, I instantly began sawing logs. Catching about a perfect twenty minute nap, I was rejuvenated and began to photograph the area some more.

About that time the clouds really started adding some great lighting, allowing for sunbeams to scatter across the flats below. Being that the shot was in the mid-afternoon, I decided a black and white version was much more appealing. And although I don't know how much I enjoy this shot, my wife insisted that I finish editing it and to post it. She enjoys it quite a bit so I suppose I'll take her advice on this one. What do you guys think?

Obviously nicely done. The beauty and intricacy of nature blend well together here. Just a lot for the eye to explore. Love the back story you always add.

I'm so used to color for this area but the b&W is really great. Nice work.

Nope, I knew you had to go out of the way for this. Did you park there though and hike out? Looks like to the right from the parking lot based on the position of the canyon. Just makes me want to go back now damnit! haha.

No man. No where even near the parking lot. Was on my way to the overlooks to the south and there was a pullout. No trail or anything. I need to go to other parks now. Dammit I want to go to other places!

Oh ok, I kinda get the idea. I think I sorta know where that pullout was. I still have a ton of parks to visit out west here. Knocked a few off this year thankfully, next year should be awesome.
