On the first morning of Rachael and my anniversary trip, we went to the Canyonlands well before sunrise to get acquainted with the surroundings. We were told about a certain location to start a morning shoot at and so we did. As we waited for sunrise, I continually scanned the area for opportunities other than the obvious. This is one of those I crossed my fingers on once the sun rose. However, it wasn't until the sun rose that the landscape revealed its true beauty. The fragile layers of erosional forces discovered with the early light. Such power, such patients mother nature has when crafting her beauty. What a connection we felt.
